Abstract

The study of the sarcophagus of C.Iulius Mygdonius, bearing the inscription CIL XI 137, evidences the urgency of proceeding promptly towards a complete cataloguing of the stone material in Ravenna, with and without inscriptions. This operation is recommended not only for evident scientific objectives, but also for the conservation and valorisation of the findings, otherwise very often not accessible and badly known. The seat of Ravenna of the University of Bologna has all the resources, technical and scientific, to carry out this project.
